6 WAYS INTRODUCING MORE WATER TO THE BODY CAN INCREASE HEALTH

Body – Part Five

Water is the driving force behind all nature!

If I were to ask someone the reasons why they should be drinking water; the expected response would be, ‘to stay hydrated’.

Whilst true, there are several other reasons that require mentioning when we discuss hydration. Having a good understanding of waters role within your body can be vital in your journey towards optimal health.

The body is consisted of up to 60% water, while the muscles in your body contain up to 75%.

So, it goes without saying, that in order to maintain our body’s optimal functioning levels, we need to keep ourselves fully hydrated.

Beyond maintaining our hydration levels, here are six other reasons why it’s critical for optimal function to keep topping up our water levels.

  1. Staying hydrated can reduce the risks of colon cancer by up to 45% and bowel cancer by almost 50% by preventing constipation and making it easier for the body to remove excess waste.
  2. Proper hydration can improve your mood and increase your concentration levels. Because proper hydration can aid the digestive system efficiency, a healthy link is promoted between your stomach and brain by reducing the incidences of headaches and lethargy.
  3. Because your muscles contain up to 75% water, adequate hydration can boost your performance and energy levels. Energy is transported to the muscles via the blood streams in your body and proper hydration enables this to occur more efficiently.
  4. Water is a natural appetite suppressant and can assist in weight loss. In many cases, when our stomachs are telling they’re hungry we’re just thirsty. A glass of water can stave off these feelings and, drinking during meal time can also prevent you from over eating.
  5. Drinking water can reduce joint pain by maintaining soft and hydrated cartilages. Joints and cartilages require hydration too and, without adequate levels of fluid travelling to them, they become stiff, sore and inflamed.
  6. Water can improve the complexion of your skin by promoting cell regeneration. Just like bone joints, your skin requires hydration also and, without adequate levels of fluid travelling to our skin cells the surface before dry and clammy.

It is often recommended that we drink up to 6-8 glasses of water per day to remain sufficiently hydrated.

To help you stay well hydrated throughout the day, always carry a water bottle with you and sip frequently throughout the day.
